Who takes FSRT
Fire losses are fewer than water losses and worth far more each. The people who profit from them are the ones who can say, and prove, what is cleanable. Four groups sit in this class.
Restoration techniciansNew hires and field crews. Fire is the job where a tech who can read residue, pick the right cleaning method and document it is worth more on day one. Certify them before the next big loss, not after.
Estimators and project managersYou write the fire estimate and decide what gets cleaned and what gets replaced. FSRT puts the standard behind those calls, so the scope holds up when the carrier pushes back.
Public adjustersCharred cabinets called cleanable and contents written off at pennies are the two biggest fights in a fire claim. FSRT teaches the standard that settles both.
Cleaning companiesCarpet, upholstery and commercial cleaning crews already have the hands and the equipment. Fire and smoke cleanup is the next step up, and it pays like restoration, not like cleaning.

Take the class in Rosemont or live online
9 AM to 5 PM with your instructor. Real losses, real drying math, real photos. Full attendance is required by IICRC to sit the exam.

Sit the IICRC FSRT exam on the last day
Proctored in class. 75% passes. The $80 exam fee is paid to IICRC. If you miss, IICRC allows two retests within 45-day windows, no need to retake the course.

Certified, and on the vendor lists
IICRC issues your certification. Add it to your card and your Google profile, apply for Certified Firm status, and put it in front of the programs and adjusters who ask for it. Renew with 14 CECs every four years.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the FSRT course?
Two days, 14 class hours, 9 AM to 5 PM in Rosemont, with the exam on the afternoon of day two.
Do I need WRT before FSRT?
No. IICRC lists no prerequisites for FSRT. Many people take both in the same week because water damage from firefighting is part of almost every fire loss.
Is the exam included?
The exam is proctored in class on the last day. The $80 exam fee is set by IICRC and paid to IICRC directly. Tuition covers instruction and the course manual; call us for current tuition and company rates.
What if I fail?
You need 75% to pass. IICRC gives you two retests within 45-day windows at the $80 fee. You do not need to repeat the class.
Can I add WRT the same week?
Yes. WRT runs Wednesday to Friday right after every FSRT class. Ask us about the combined rate.
How long does the FSRT certification last?
It renews annually with IICRC and requires 14 continuing education credits every four years.
Is this the official IICRC FSRT?
Yes. It is the IICRC certification course delivered by an IICRC-approved instructor under an IICRC Approved School, hosted by CNTC. You earn the same certification as anywhere in the country.
